Knight's history begins in 1945 with the founding of Lester B. Knight & Associates (LBK), an engineering and architectural firm. In 1979, LBK established a transportation engineering division, which earned a reputation for delivering high-quality service on a variety of public and private infrastructure projects. In 1998, Lester B. Knight & Associates began a process of dissolution. A year later, its transportation engineering division became the first independent company to emerge from the dissolution. That company, now known as Knight E/A, Inc., was established in 1999.

Today, Knight continues the well respected practice it established nearly 30 years ago by consistently providing high-quality engineering and architectural services. We've grown from 35 employees to more than 80 employees today, a third of whom are professionally licensed. Many of our employees have been with us since the beginning. Our client base now includes more than 50 public and private clients from across the country and Puerto Rico.

In 2004, Knight established an office in Wisconsin to better serve our clients. Our Chicago and La Crosse offices are fully integrated to meet the complete needs of all of our clients, no matter their location.
