Featured Project - Englewood Plaza
Chicago, Illinois
Knight recently participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the renovation of a plaza in which Knight provided design services in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. As part of the work, Knight provided for decorative concrete pavers, graded and designed the site for a new bioswale, and provided for decorative site lighting, with the overall intent of making the plaza a more inviting gathering place for the neighborhood.
This task was completed as part of an ongoing Streetscape, Riverwalk and Urban Landscape DUR contract. For each assigned task, Knight’s team designs with the intent of incorporating green infrastructure into the City’s streets, alleys and plazas. Other projects under this contract have included design for five demonstration alleys for the City’s Green Alley Program in which new, “green” technologies are tested in existing alleys throughout Chicago. Knight has also completed design of pathways for an underbridge connector between two sections of Ping Tom Park and has provided for porous pavers and energy-efficient lighting in the parking lane alongside the Green Exchange Building.
