Knight provided architectural design and construction observation services
for the more than $6 million rehabilitation of the existing Chicago Marine
Safety Station, located on Chicago’s Lakefront.
Built in 1935, the building is eligible for listing on the National Register
of Historic Places. The rehabilitated facility houses federal, state and
local agencies.
Knight relied on innovation and creativity to design the facility to meet
LEED sustainable design credits while maintaining the building’s original
historic appearance.
