District 5 Maintenance Facility
Knight provided architectural and engineering design and construction engineering services for the District No. 5 Maintenance Facility in Blue Island, Illinois. The new 24,000 square foot office/maintenance garage building replaced an existing facility and sits on a 6.5 acre site. Knight’s work included the demolition and replacement of both the existing facility and an existing salt storage dome. Our engineering services included a new drainage and sanitary sewer system and the reconstruction of approximately 3/4 of a mile of Charles Drive, which serves as the only entrance to the facility from Ashland Avenue.
DuPage Technology Park Communications Facility
Knight provided architectural and engineering services to the DuPage Technology Park Board for the design of communications ducts and a Communications Facility at the DuPage Technology Research Park.  The Communication Facility is designed to provide access and management functions to the fiber optic data and telephone communications carriers. Knight also prepared contract documents for underground ducts for the installation of fiber optic cables. The installations of fiber optic and telephone communication ducts were routed along the utility corridor to the Communication Facility.

University of Illinois at Chicago Retainer Contract
Knight has completed more than 30 projects for the University of Illinois at Chicago as part of our Retainer Contract with the University. The contract initially included mechanical and electrical engineering projects, but was expanded to include several projects with significant architectural elements as the University became more familiar with Knight’s abilities. Knight’s work has included building assessments and feasibility studies, remodeling and interior design, the design of new building facades and entry canopies, parking lot design, lighting upgrades, grant proposal preparation, athletic field improvements, design and installation of a new cooling system for data closets and structural analyses.
Florence Hotel Annex Roof Stabilization
The Pullman Historical Site on Chicago's South Side was built in the late 1800's as a model industrial community. Knight provided architectural and engineering services for the emergency stabilization of the Florence Hotel Annex roof at the Pullman Site. These repairs were needed to stabilize the building and protect it from further deterioration. Our work included removal of existing roofing and installation of new roofing.
